Worse yet, when the gaps and the surrounding teeth aren't readily visible, these issues are more likely to go undiagnosed and untreated until your next dental visit - and it can cost you dearly!
If missing teeth have compromised the health of your smile, dentures may be the right choice for you. Dentures can be fabricated to replace a few missing (partial denture) teeth to having no teeth (Full Denture) at all!

Dentures are custom-fitted, artificial replacements for missing teeth and the surrounding gum tissue. Constructed with either plastic prosthetic teeth or porcelain teeth, dentures are removable and are a relatively affordable option for tooth replacement (although cost can vary significantly depending on denture composition).
For those patients whose dentures are loose as the underlying bone has dissolved offering less support, implants can be placed in strategic locations to support the denture. Dentures can then be removed or can be left in the mouth when they are fully implant supported.
Dentures are made by first taking a series of impressions of your jaw after tooth loss or removal. Next, wax denture models are constructed and tested to ensure optimal comfort and alignment. Finally, the denture is cast and ready for use. Ongoing adjustments can then be made if necessary.
Types of Dentures
There are many different types of dentures available depending on your needs. If only one or a few teeth are missing, and the surrounding teeth can be used to support the bite pressure, you can opt for partial dentures. Partial dentures are made up of one or more teeth attached to a gum-coloured base and affixed to a metal framework. This frame can be inserted alongside your existing teeth, forming a bridge. When most of your natural teeth are no longer present or must be removed, full dentures can be customized for you.
Denture Care
A number of advancements have been made in modern dentistry that allow for dentures that are virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth. However, if you are looking for a slightly more permanent solution for missing teeth, dental bridges and dental implants are possible alternatives.
